Our latest project, a Daimler Century, epitomises the pinnacle of British luxury automotive craftsmanship. The Daimler Century: A Legacy of British Elegance
The Daimler Century is a fine example of rare British luxury, a testament to the illustrious history of Jaguar's sister company. This particular model, resplendent in its original factory hue and boasting low mileage, is a remarkable representation of heritage and sophistication. Under the bonnet lies the smoothly powerful 6.0-litre V12 engine, capable of delivering 315bhp, paired with a seamless four-speed automatic transmission.
As one of only 100 V12-equipped Daimler Centuries ever produced, this vehicle stands out as a particularly rare modern classic luxury car. Created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Daimler Motor Cars, the ‘Century’ model graced only 100 six-cylinder and 100 twelve-cylinder X300-generation vehicles. Each was built on a long-wheelbase chassis, lavishly equipped with an array of standard features that were typically optional extras. This included chromed wheels, electrically adjustable rear seats, embroidered headrests, and distinctive polished sill plates emblazoned with the ‘Century’ name. The factory fittings extended to electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, heated seats front and rear, rear picnic trays and sun blinds, cruise control, traction control, power folding door mirrors, and headlamp washers, among others.
Challenges and Eventual Triumphs
Our garage faced a formidable challenge with the Daimler Century. Upon arrival, the vehicle required a range of services, from basic maintenance tasks such as replacing oil and air filters to resolving more complex issues like a non-functional air conditioning system and a faulty fuel filler flap. However, the most significant test of our abilities arose when the vehicle suddenly became immobilised due to a damaged security locking module.
Craig embarked on a rigorous investigative process, leaving no stone unturned. He meticulously checked every wire and connection, and spent countless hours conducting extensive online research. This task was particularly daunting given the rarity of the Daimler Century; with so few remaining on the roads, there was a notable lack of readily available information and support for fixing such intricate issues.
In light of these challenges, we reached out to our network of third-party subcontractors, specialists in auto electrics and ECU, renowned for their expertise in the field. Their external perspective and specialised knowledge were crucial in addressing the complex problems we faced. Through a collaborative effort, combining Craig's relentless pursuit of a solution with the know-how of these industry experts, we were able to successfully decode and repair the original locking module. This collaborative approach not only resolved the immobilisation issue but also highlighted the importance of community and shared knowledge in the classic car restoration industry.

Despite the complex challenges and the associated costs, the joy and relief our client expressed upon receiving their Daimler Century back in top condition were unmistakable.
